An Ulstad Copperton 1953 original, this tiny etching was commissioned for the famed poet and novelist Sylvia Plath in honor of her re-enrollment into Smith College after a brief stay in a mental institution. After her untimely death in 1963, the etching was loaned to the Smith College Museum of Art for ten years before it was sold to Mrs. Deodora Entwhistle at Phillips of London in 1973. Since then it has remained in the family collection in situ in the Napoleon Wing of their winter estate.
