ESCAPE JAMAICA
RULES and DIRECTIONS
NOTE: This game requires a smart phone with internet access throughout Jamaica. Currently AT&T works in Jamaica but many other carriers do not.
This is a self-run, walking escape game played through the streets of Jamaica, Vermont. It should take 1-2 hours to complete on foot. It is possible to drive between clues but the most satisfying experience may be by walking or biking.
You will need a smart phone (with AT&T), a way to record clues (pen, paper, or phone notes), and $1.00 (spending money.)
All CLUES are online and require passwords. These are found when you solve the puzzle. ALL PASSWORDS ARE IN ALL CAPS.
Start with CLUE 1 and follow the instructions precisely. Some clues have two or more parts. If you don’t succeed at the first part, you may not have the tools to play the second.
At the completion of each leg of the puzzle you will have two answers, one is a password that gives you access to the next clue. The second is a number and a word we call a “FINAL-WORD.” This will be indicated by a number and word. (e.g #4 PIGLETS). Collect these words and their corresponding number as this will be part of the puzzle for the final clue.
Use the MAP to find your way around Jamaica. All points of interest are marked on the map. Each new clue requires travel to a different destination, though some clues contain more than one part in the same place. (eg CLUE 5 part 2 may happen in the same location as CLUE 5.)
Use the Master Clue List if you get off track or need to access the HELP.
If you cannot find the answer, try our HINTS. Most of the puzzles come with hints. Sometimes a puzzle piece can become lost or vandalized. Other times a player cannot find the answer. To keep the game going we have provided the answers/passwords too. These can be accessed by a button marked, “HELP,” found on the Master Clue List. Don’t go there unless you want the answers.
The longest and most complex version of the game is available only when certain stores and other buildings are also open for business as they require entry to these buildings. We have created a work around as our main version of the game so that all answers can be accessed whenever played even if some of the buildings are closed. Players can expect the longest version on Saturday mornings.
ABSOLUTELY, POSITIVELY return all game pieces that you find along the way to their original, locked position for the benefit of the next players involved.
The password for CLUE 1 is the also the Natick word for this little town. You’ll have to do a little research to find out! You are welcome to ask around. Or you can use the internet (fast way) or search our website www.strattonescaperoom.com for a even greater challenge. We have hidden the answer somewhere in the text. When you find the answer, use it as the password to get in. Remember to use all capitals.
